Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is cancer treatment in which drugs are used to kill or slow the growth of cancer cells. It’s a systemic treatment, means that it works for the whole body. The drugs used here stop cancer cells from reproducing and kill them by interrupting their cell cycle replication. It is usually given by mouth, injection, infusion or on the skin. It can be given alone or in combination with surgery, radiation therapy, or immunotherapy and targeted therapy. It has its bag of side effects also as it affects rapidly dividing normal cells also.
Immunotherapy
Immunotherapy is a treatment that uses the body's immune system to fight cancer, infection, and other diseases. It is drugs only usually given via intravenous or injection route where in, it can stimulate or suppress immune system. It helps the immune system to find and kill cancer cells in layman terms. It can be used in combination with other treatments like chemotherapy, surgery or radiation. Many types of immunotherapies are there, cytokines, vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, and even CAR-T therapy is a type of enhanced immunotherapy.
